This is the most beautiful and complete museum of the country about the pre-Colombian cultures. It presents a complete chronology of pre-Hispanic civilizations in three floors, with huge models of archaeological sites, reproductions of pre-Hispanic masterpieces, sculptures, ceramics, tissues, national and local maps, and very didactic explanations. This is an essential place to see before starting to visit the heart of the country and real archaeological sites. The other interesting part of this visit is about the period of terrorism, between 1970 and 2000. It starts with a detailed historical timeline and continues with a series of photos accompanied by explanations of different periods of the armed conflict. It is very instructive, “to ensure that it never happens again”.
